How we Test our Fabrics
All our fabrics are designed to offer the best performance. We conduct rigorous testing at every stage of the process, from initial laboratory developments to final application in real-world situations.
The Adhesion Test determines the bond strength between two or more layers of fabric. High adhesion levels are important in applications where the fabric will be flexed, bent or exposed to extreme weather.
The Hydrostatic Head Test measures water permeability of fabrics under a certain pressure. The greater the pressure resistance, the greater the fabric’s ability to block water penetration from one side to the other.
The MVTR Test (Moisture Vapor Transmission Rate) measures the rate of moisture transmission through a fabric. The higher the MVTR, the greater the breathability of the fabric.
The Spray Test measures the water repellency of the fabric. The fewer water drops that stick to the fabric, the better, because wet fabrics reduce evaporation and make breathability difficult.
STRENGTH AND ELONGATION
Tensile Strength and Elongation at Break tests provide information about the strength and ductility of a material. These tests demonstrate how much force a fabric can withstand before it fails.
THICKNESS AND WEIGHT
Thickness and weight measurements help define the perfect material for each project. The results of these measurements help to improve important performances such as thermal control and impact resistance.
The Martindale Test shows how much wear and tear a fabric can take before there is a noticeable change in appearance. The higher the score, the more durable the fabric.
