Tectex/Foot by Foot is once again present in Frankfurt at the 2019 edition of Techtextil, the main international trade fair for technical and functional textiles. Technology, innovation and creativity is the trilogy that Tectex used to show the world its products between the 14th and 17th of May.

The strategic importance of the international affirmation of Portuguese companies was reinforced by the presence of the Secretary of State for the Economy, João Correia das Neves, who traveled to Germany to support Portuguese companies accompanied by the Portuguese ambassador in Berlin, João Mira Gomes.

On tiptoe, Tectex/Foot by Foot is preparing a new big leap forward, investing in new products to enter new market segments, aiming to increase its turnover by 50%, making it grow by three million to 4.5 million euros, within two years.

“We will go to ITMA [20/26 June, in Barcelona] looking for new equipment, new technologies to invest. We want to expand our range of products, perhaps with something different in the area of coating and lamination”, explains António Pereira,  administrator of Tectex/Foot by Foot.

Specialized in the production of coated and laminated technical textiles, the Felgueiras company has been following a path in which the two main objectives are moving up the value chain and diversifying its products and customers.

Reinforcing the stock of raw materials, to ensure an even faster response, particularly in the home textiles segment, is another of the ongoing investments in this company that prides itself on placing a product anywhere in Europe, within a maximum period of 72 hours upon receipt of the customer’s order.

Tectex/Foot by Foot is creating new products and discovering new markets. The weight of footwear in its turnover dropped from 99% to 35%, and home textiles are already the company’s main customer, accounting for around half of its sales.

“Home textiles are the area that is growing the most. They are the engine of our company, compensating for the losses registered in other segments”, says the administrator of Tectex/Foot by Foot, which has its own laboratory and, in collaboration with CITEVE, CenTI and Universidade do Minho, has developed technical and innovative products that allowed it to export all over Europe.

The company’s star product for the home textiles segment is mattress protections, in all its aspects – hospital, hotel and domestic – with a myriad of functions and properties, such as flame retardant, minimum shrinkage (2% or less) , non-slip, breathable, waterproof, allowing washing at very high temperatures, etc, etc…
